Langkasuka Resort

This is the pool view of the hotel. Looks lovely isn't it?
On the right hand side is a small artificial waterfall. But
everytime when we came to the pool it was never turned on.

During our stay in the hotel, we met a guy,
who happened to be the bellboy of the hotel, whom had helped
us to bring our luggage to our room the first evening. We
chatted for a while, and he recommended us a tour to another
island near by, which is Pulau Payar. We had heard about this
tour, but it is very expensive and we decided not to go.
But this guy could get us 2 places in the boat
for half the price we were told by the hotel reception because
the offer is by another company which he is also working with.
I was very excited and was asking Sam her opinion and I am
very excited and wanted to go badly. I have been snorkeling
before, but never have I ever set my eyes on such exotic and
beautiful also extra ordinary fishes before, so this would
be a very nice adventure for me. But, on the other hand, Sam
had a very bad feeling.
She doesn't trust the man, she is worried that we might get
cheated and what if this man would drive us to some other
place and rob us or something. She never stop worrying. But
I trust the guy. Sam is always complaining that I trust people
easily and it is not good. But we told the man we need sometime
to think about it and to discuss and finally Sam said ok :)
and we booked the tour to Pulau Payar.

To go to Pulau Payar, we need to take a speedboat. Pulau Langkawi
in not merely just an island by itself. It is surrounded by
over a hundred islands. It took us about 45 minutes to 1 hour
to get there. But it was also a nice experience because we
passed by a lot of nice small islands on the way there and
they are views you will never forget.

This is the beach of Pulau Payar. On this island, one is not
allowed to fish here. These fishes are protected and taken
care of because it is something like a marine park. Therefore,
you can see variety of fishes here. .
Sam and I were snorkeling in the sea and we
swam passed many sea creatures we have never seen before.
There were sharks crossing our ways, as we swam over it, and
other small colorful fishes. This is an experience one can
never forget. We enjoyed ourselves that day on the island.

Waiting for the Sharks

Every day, during lunch time, you can see all the baby sharks
swimming up, close to the shore. At this time, we are given
permission to feed them with small fishes.

This is Samantha's leg. The Shark almost took a bite of her
toe. But not really.
After the snorkelling, they brought us to another
island, called Pulau Dayang Bunting. In the middle of this
island is a sweetwater lake, called the Lake of the Pregnant
Maiden. It is given this name because there is a legend behind
the peaceful and beautiful lake. .
It depicts the story of two genies, Mambang
Sari and Maj Teja who came to love her. Not knowing how to
confess this, he followed the advice of an old man, Tok Diang
and wiped the tears of a mermaid on his face when next he
saw her. She responded and a series of trysts followed. When
she became pregnant, she chose Tasik Dayang Beranak to give
birth. When the baby died seven days later, she threw it into
the lake which later became known as Tasik Dayang Bunting

It is also believe that if a woman drink the
water from the lake, she can get pregnant. Some people said
it is just a myst, but there are some people that believes
and have seen for real that it did happen
We were told by the tour guide in the bus on
the first day about this island. We aren't very sure, but
he said that it is proven by a few scientist for different
country that the water of the lake is from a dead volcano
that used to be there... or something like that, and that
the water "could" get women pregnant

Samantha preferred not to go into the lake... "to be on the
safe side", she said. "It could just be a legand, but
what if it really can happen... I could get kill just because
of a sip of lake water"

Since I can not get pregnant I could cool myself off from
the heat and enjoy the fresh water.

It is also believed that the island is called as Pulau Dayang
Bunting because the shape of the mountains portray a pregnant
woman, putting her hand over her pregnant stomach. It is said
that the mountain started to form into it's shape after the
baby fell into the lake water
